 This study manual was created by the Peer Resource's Students.


Strategies for Test Taking
    1 - Read all directions carefully.
       - Ask your teacher about the test directions that you don't understand.
       - If you don't follow directions carefully you would get a low test score.
    2 - Look over the whole test to figure out how much you need to do.
       - Knowing the entire test will make it easier for you.
    3 - After you have examined think about how much time you would spend on each question.
       - Plan to spend more time on the questions that count for more points.
       - Spending your time is the most important for essay tests.
    4 - Answer the easiest questions first.
       - If you are stuck on a question skip that question and come back to it.
    5 - If you spend your time wisely you will have enough time to review your answers.
       - Also review the test questions to be sure you read them correctly.

Strategies for Stress Relief

    1)Listen to music while doing homework.
     -for example listen to a diffrent ablum for every subject or type of music for every subject.
    2)Sometimes it helps to watch T.V, but you need to remember not to stray from your homework.
     -try to calm your nervers by T.V but can easily distract you.
    3)Sometimes snacking can also help you study by craving your hunger.
    -it can also help you think straight by giving your brain nutrients.
    4)Talking to friends can help for example talk about the homework on the phone with someone else
     -ask friends about homework questions that you might not know.
    5)Lastly you can have a study partner over and you can him/her help on the homework.
    -the study partners can help on the homework.

Habits of Successful Students

1. Don't study too much at one time and study then rest for awhile then study some more.

2. Plan the times when you will study.

3. Study at the same time each day so you will get used to it and it will become a routine.

4. Set goals for your study times because that will help you stay focused.

5. Begin studying when you planned it so you can get used to studying.

6. Work on the assignment that is the most difficult first.

7. Review your notes before you work on your assignment.

8. Tell your friends not to disturb you when you are studying so you can concentrate more.

9. Ask another student if you have a question about the assignment.

10. You should review your classwork and your homework over the weekends.

Research on the Internet

1. ~Narrow down your topics , take out keywords and catigories.


2. ~If you don't have a computer at home , go to the libary and ask your local research librarian for a computer so you could start your research. 

3. ~Use well known sites , search engines or sites you already used.

4. ~If one site doesn't have your needs/answers try several more sites.

5. ~Try using the most advanced search options in your search engine.

Study Habits

!. Priorities first because it's important to follow them and not get distracted by your friends or others.

2. Ignore the people who bug you about what's important to you and keep working on it.

3. Find the place and time that you will work harder and more. A time or place that you will concentrate more and finish work faster.

4. Keep challenging yourself because as work gets harder you will be ready when it comes.

5. If you have problem on something it might be good to reread the book or you could ask others(teachers, tutors, students, parents, etc.)

6. Continue to follow your priorities and commitments.

Testing Tips for Students

Get Good Rest

Get a lot of sleep before the test.

Eat Breakfast

Eating breakfast will give you the energy to concentrate and work harder.

Skim Questions First Then Read

Read the questions before you read the passage.

Eliminate Wrong Answers

Eliminate the answers that don't make sense or you think are wrong.

If unsure, Make an Educated Guess

Think about which answer makes the most sense but don't spend too much time on one question.

Be Ready; Stay positive

Be prepared for the test and don't give up! =)
